Dishwashers can wash the glasses and dishes automatically. A dishwasher provides you more time to do other tasks; it saves your dish washing time. However, if your dishwasher is not working properly and needs to be replaced, then what steps you will follow to replace it. Here are the steps that will help you to replace a dishwasher.

Tools and Materials

•    Drill and Hole saw
•    Channel-type pliers
•    Utility knife
•    Screwdriver
•    Combination tool
•    Air gap
•    Waste-T tailpiece
•    Rubber hose and Hose clamps
•    Level
•    Brass L-fitting
•    Braided steel supply tube
•    Wire connectors
•    Power supply cord

Step 1 – Turn off the power and other connections

When you will start the work to replace the dishwasher, at first you have to turn off the power. Then you have to cut off the water supply. Then disconnect the drain hose from the tailpiece or garbage disposal. After that find out the electrical box and remove the metal covering. Remove the white, black and green wires from their respective places.

Step 2 – Remove the water supply tube

At this step, you have to remove the water supply tube. Use the channel-type pliers to do this. Before removing the tube place a pan just below the inlet valve. Remove the screws which have been used to secure the dishwasher. Remove and set the dishwasher aside. Install the air gap if needed.

Step 3 – Drill holes for the plumbing and electrical lines

At the base cabinet of the sink make holes using the drill. The holes will be used for the plumbing and electrical lines. See the manual that is provided by the manufacturer of the dishwasher for the perfect size of the holes.

Step 4 – Set the new dishwasher

Now set the new dishwasher in its position by pushing it and relieve the rubber hose through the hole. Check the dishwasher by opening and closing it that it will function accurately.

Step 5 – Install the air gap

If you have an air gap, then you have to install it now. If there is not air gap, then attach the hose to the underside of the cabinet top. The hose should be set properly so that it can prevent the dirty water to enter into the dishwasher. You can use wire to keep the hose in the position.

Step 6 – Set the water supply tube

At this step, you have to remove the access panel of the dishwasher and set the brass L-fitting to join the water supply tube.

Step 7 – Set the electrical connections

Now you have to set the power cord by removing the metal cover of the electrical box of the dishwasher. Connect the wires according to the instructions of the manual and place the covers back to their positions. Be sure that the dishwasher is secured enough. For this purpose, you can use some mounting brackets.

Step 8 – Turn on the lines

Now the dishwasher is ready. Turn on the electricity and water connection of the dishwasher. Check that there is no leak. If necessary tighten the connections.
